Saco River Canoe Trips

Welcome to the Saco River Canoe Trip information page. Our group of about 40 people has been ca-brewing down the Saco RIver in the middle of July since 1999. We are all friends of Jay & Rebecca Wiggin from Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. We had a killer time this year, despire the high water and the seperation of our two core groups. Each year is forever differnt, and it always manages to become the highlight of our summers.

We Hire Northern Extremes to provide us with boats and driver transportation at the pickup. Our group Goes in at Swan Falls and is picked up at the pond Lovewells. Northern Extremes has had great service throughout our seven-year tenure, however I have noticed the boats are becoming smaller every year. This year 2 out of 12 boats were bigger than 158's. I require a Discovery 169 or bigger because of the size of the solar array project which I place on the center of the boat, just over the coolers. I am curious to see what sized boats are rented through other outfits.

Distances:

- From 302 Bridge to Weston’s Bridge = 10.1 miles
- Weston’s Bridge to Swan’s Falls = 3.4 miles
(A portage is required around the Swan’s Falls Dam)
- Swan’s Falls to Canal Bridge (reviewed here) = 3.8 miles
- Canal Bridge to Walker’s Bridge = 7 miles
(There is a channel to avoid river right at Stoney Brook)
- Walker’s Bridge to Walker’s Rip (falls) = 2.7 miles (Short Section of Rapids)
- Walker’s Rip to Lovewell’s Pond = 2 miles
- Lovewell’s Pond to Brownfield Bridge = 5.9 miles
- Brownfield Bridge to Hiram Bridge = 13.8 miles

Total Distance 48.7 miles
