Timeline of My car purchases and Events
October 8th, 1998
One day before my 17th birthday, I purchaced my
first car. Sitting in a sandpit with a flat front tire was A 1989' Ford
Thunderbird Supercoupe. 1989 Motor Trend car of the year, the Extremely
agile luxury sports sedan won my hard earned $2,000 that it took to
take it home. Little did I know the car was worth more than $4,000 to
the right person. Guess the previous owners didnt know that. 210hp Supercharged
3.8l v6 engine, Leather interior, power everything, ajustable air ride
suspension. It had it all, along with 143,000 miles. But it didnt matter
that the origional supercharger was only rated at 110k miles, I had
my first car.
Fall of 98, November I think
2 of my friends and I got this idea that it would be really cool to
buy a rally car and beat it in the woods for fun. Then take it out and
do cookies on the lake in the winter. So we found our perfect rally
car. A 1984 Nissan 240sx. It was perfect because it was, a standard
transmission, 4cyl with 8 sparkplugs (we felt that was better for rallying
incase you blew a plug you could still run it and it wouldnt cost any
money) The struts were shot which make driving through the woods 3x
more harsher than it really was because the suspension magnifyed the
rally experience. 3 hours after we bought it the clutch blew. The engine
had 197,000 Miles. No wonder huh?
March 19th, 1999
However completely unrelated to my car owning experiences,
on march 19th, a friday I was nearly killed in a car accident while
riding in the passenger seat of my friends 91 thunderbird LX. See
pictures of the car and wonder how I survived (HERE)
Spring of 99'
My friend and I picked up a 1990 Pontiac Grand AM
with a "bad wheel bearing" for 300$ and after fixing some
surface rust and the bearing we turned around and sold it 11 days
after buying it for $2,000 I used the Money to buy a Kawasaki 650sx.
A standup style jetski which ive had a lot of fun on this summer.
