Red
squirrels tend to be more pasty than the grey and because of their
tendency to live in our walls and ceilings. They also make an annoying
chirping sound, which makes them easy targets, and tend to end up
on the wrong end of the barrel of a high powered air rifle. (BB gun)
This is probably caused by the red squirrels ability to blend in with
the surroundings. I have often found its hiding in trees, or bushes,
others report seeing them lying down in the road. This behavior has
not been studied however it is believed that they do this for attention.
We can imagine that being a red squirrel cannot be easy.
Red squirrels can be identified by their red color (see above picture)
as well as the high pitched chirping they make when they want to get
your attention and that of cars as well. Which we believe is the reason
they lie down in the road.
